Chinese women have recently been waging various body challenges on the Internet. If they achieve these goals, they are defined as beautiful. And in order to achieve this challenge, many women have made dieting their life goal. This project was designed to create an exhibition about this body challenge, which has become the topic of a firestorm on the Chinese Internet. Through this work, we hoped to encourage viewers to question the standards of women's bodies.
I interlinked the images of the balloons and the woman at the site of the exhibit. The viewer presses a button, and the woman's waist becomes thinner and thinner. Meanwhile, they inflate the balloons. The balloons are like the feelings of a woman who is constantly pressured by what she is told on the Internet, forcing herself to conform to the aesthetics of thinness, while the pressure inside her expands and explodes like a balloon.
